Maria started attending creative workshops with ART for Cancer Foundation in 2013.

Above she is pictured with some of the art she herself created during these workshops.

Since 2015 Maria started to share her love of teaching and art by facilitating workshops at ART for Cancer Foundation for her peers. Her favorite medium was watercolor. She initially insisted on bringing all her art supplies and below you will see a picture of Maria with all her bags during a workshop day.

Below is a video where Maria talks about her love of art.

Maria touched many with her amazing zest for life. Below you will find some quotes from the many friends she made along the way.

“Maria was one of those individuals who leaves a tattoo in your heart. Despite the tremendous obstacles she faced, she never lost sight of making the most of the moment!. Her light will continue to shine in my heart, for many years to come”  Cid Palacio, Founder ART for Cancer Foundation

“It was a privilege to have met Maria, paint with her and be taught by her.  Maria, you are a beautiful soul, you will be missed deeply!  Love, Jessica”

“I’ve known Maria for over a year and cherished our friendship and all the times we spent together.she was always there for me and imparting so much of her knowledge to me and others. God gave me her as a gift, he sent her as my cheerleader, she was such en encouragement and strong support in my life. I will keep on painting for her, I told her that the week she passed when she said, ” I want to teach and I want to paint Camille.” And so I made her the promise of painting for her and I’ve done 5 angels so far! I miss my dear friend so much. Love Camille.”

“Maria had a profound effect on me! Her courage in fighting her cancer is what inspired me the most. She was also an inspirational teacher and was always willing to share her skills with others. Maria never lost sight of what mattered so much to her: her art.  Maria I will miss your dearly! Rest in peace!” Len

” I first got to know Maria at ART for Cancer. At first we were both students – participants. Then later I got to have the pleasure of registering in a class led by her. It was a treat! I am sad for us but more especially for her children and husband. I am filled with admiration for how you led your life Maria… grace and joy.”
Tracy
“Maria, my art friend, taught me to see vivid colours not just in art, but in life. She fought valiantly for everything that mattered to her to do it her way. She inspired so many people by just being “Maria”. I can’t believe she is no longer with us.. We lost a feisty angel that heaven gained. RIP my dear friend. God Bless.” Barbara
